Conquering the Challenges of 2024 The 2024 hunting season in Wyoming brought its fair share of obstacles. From wildfires disrupting the early season to unseasonably warm weather lingering into mid-season, the challenges were plenty. For Chris Rhodes, overcoming mistakes and pressing forward defined his final elk hunt of the year.
The Hunt Begins Chris and his wife braved 18-degree weather and 3–6 inches of snow to track elk in eastern Wyoming. Before sunrise, they spotted over 200 elk nearly a mile away. Facing slick terrain and deadfall, they pushed forward to close the distance but had to regroup after the herd moved out of range.
Closing the Distance Chris used the terrain and wind to his advantage, aggressively stalking the herd. With his Ultradot Gen2 30mm sight mounted on a 460 S&W, he moved into position. When obstacles required a flatter trajectory, he switched to his 375 JDJ Contender.
The Perfect Shot Using precision optics and Cutting Edge Handgun Raptor bullets, Chris took a clean, ethical shot. The calf dropped within 25 yards—proof of the effectiveness of his gear and preparation.
Ultradot in the Field Throughout the challenges of 2024, Ultradot optics proved their reliability and performance. Chris highlighted the durability of the Ultradot Gen2 30mm under demanding conditions, demonstrating why it remains a top choice for hunters.
Looking Ahead Chris’ Wyoming elk season may be over, but his hunting adventures continue. Stay tuned for more stories of perseverance, precision, and passion for the hunt.
