Backcountry Rock Chucks: Ultradot in the High Country

Chris Rhodes and fellow hunters packed into the backcountry for a few days of rock chuck hunting — hiking steep hillsides, spotting at long range, and putting handguns to the test.

While revolvers and single shots did most of the heavy lifting, the optics played a big role in connecting at real hunting distances. Jay, for example, ran a BFR .357 Magnum topped with an Ultradot Matchdot II and made clean hits on chucks in steep, challenging terrain.

The trip was about more than the shots — it was hiking through mountain storms, glassing distant hillsides, swapping camp stories, and sharing the challenge of handgun hunting. But through it all, Ultradot optics proved once again they can handle backcountry conditions while helping hunters stay accurate when it counts.

Ultradot Takeaway: Whether it’s a long day in the field or a steep angle shot on a distant rock chuck, Ultradot sights — like the Matchdot II — are built to keep you on target.
